Goal Earlyexercisecanpreventpotentialpost-opdeepveinthrombusformation,improveintestinalmotilityandcirculation,anddecreasecomplications. Post-opexercises Deepbreathingexercises Method:raisetheheadofthebedto45°~60°,placenecksupport,bendyourknees,relaxyourfoot,crossyourhandstosecurewound.Slowlyinhalethroughyournoseuntilyounoticeyourdistendedabdomen,holdyourbreathfor3seconds,slowlypurseyourlipsandexhale,andthencount1to6.Exhalationtoinhalationratiois2to1;repeattheexerciseevery1to2minutesforupto5~10minutes. Coughingexercise: Method:workonthisexerciseafterdeepbreathexercise.Leanforwardwithhandssecuringthewound.Exhaledeeplyandholdyourbreathfor3seconds.Useabdominalstrengthtoletoutsputum.Coughatleastonceevery1~2hoursaftertheoperation. Turningoverexercise: Method:Usetherailingofthebedtoturnyourbodytoleftorright.Whenawake,turnyourbodyevery2hoursuntilyouareabletogetoutoffthebed. Limbexercise: Method:Stretchandflexanyjointsofyourbody(e.g.,shoulder,elbow,wrist,ankle,andetc).Jointexercisehelpsimprovevenousreturn.Startlimbexerciseanytimeafterthesurgeryforupto4timesaday. Off-bedexercise: Method:Raisetheheadofthebed,sitonthesideofbedfor5to10minutes,andthenusethebottomofthefoottoseeifyouareabletobalance,thenstandupandwalkaround.Thereisnoparticularrestrictionoverthetimelimitdependingonyourphysicalstrength.Earlyoff-bedexerciseisbeneficialtoearlyrecovery.Whenpermitted,exercise4timesaday.
