Theirfirstadventuretakesplaceintheforest.Afterfleeingfromthedungeon,theyfoundafewfarmersrunningawayfromthegrassland,whereKrum'ThakRagestorm,anorcwarlockandformerlieutenantofVeruk,isterrorizingthearea.Ourlegendsventuredeepintotheforest,fightingthroughorcisharmiesbeforefinallyenteringKrum'Thak'sarenatochallengehim.There,theUnblindedCultarerevealedtobebehindKrum'Thak's'srisetopower,helpinghiminreturnforhisfutureaid.Afterafiercebattle,Krum'Thak'sisdefeated,andouradventurerscontinuetheirjourney. Lateron,theygotothemountainsinvestigatingreportsofabnormalactivitiesthere.AfterfightingtheirwaythroughtheHa'krajtrollsandtheUnblindedcultistsguardingthemountains,theyhavereachtheStormcloudTemple,onlytoseeitintheprocessofbeingcorruptedbytheUnblinded.There,acorruptedtroll,theFrostHarbinger,aformerunderlingofUlguk-Hai,isworkingwiththeUnblindedtoturnthemountainsintotrollterritorytofulfilltheirlateleader'swishes.Theadventurersattempttoputastoptothisplan,fightingtheHarbinger,trolls,andtheirUnblindedallies.Whendefeated,theHarbingerinsteadusesUnblindedmagictosacrificethemselvestobringUlguk-Haibackfromthedead,thistimeinadifferentform,calledUlguk-HaitheUnblinded.Afteratoughbattle,theundeadUlguk-Haiiskilledonceagain.TheremainingStormcloudSorcerersreturnafterwardstohelpinmakingaportaltoguidetheadventurerstothewasteland,wheretheOverseer,thecoreoftheUnblindedmenace,resides. Thewastelandsposemanydangerstotheadventurers,withunfriendlydemons,skeletons,andnowtheUnblindedroamingthelandscapelookingtoservetheirownevilends.IntheheartoftheRiftofCinders,theadventurersfindaportalfromwhichtheOverseerspreadsitsinfluence.GuardingitistheSeeressIriza,leaderoftheUnblindedCult,andoneoftheOverseer'smostloyalservants.TheadventurersandIrizafight,withtheOverseerprovidingassistancetoIrizathroughsummoningitsminionsandfurthermutatingIrizatogranthermorepower.Yetdespitetheoddsbeingstackedagainstthem,theadventurersprevail,destroyingtheportalandescapingwiththeaidoftheStormcloudSorcerers.Theportalisclosed,leavingLinireasafefornow,andtheadventurerscelebratetheirvictory. TheOverseerisnotvanquishedhowever,onlytemporarilydelayed.Inthelastcomic,Vez'nanridesonBeresadtotheElvenlandsinthefarsouthwherehemeetsMagnusSpellbane.Magnusinsiststheremustbeanotherway,butVez'nantellshimtheydon'thaveachoiceanymore.MagnusandVez'nanfacetheOverseer,andVez'nantellsMagnustosummonallthewargeneralsimmediately. CompanionsareordinarysoldierslikeDarkKnightsandRangers,eachwiththeirownuniqueskillsandgivenalotofpersonalitybytheirvoicesandappearance. Atthestartofanadventure,yourpartywillconsistof3heroesonly:oneLegendandtwoCompanions.Youcanrecruitarandom,fourthheroduringtheadventure. Allcharactersareassignedoneoffourclasses: 1.Agile:Characterswithhighmobilitythatcancontrolthebattlefieldwithease. 2.Tanks:Theslow,butdurablebackboneofyourteamwithhighdefenseandstrongmeleedamage. 3.Mages:Fragile,yetpowerfulcastersthatusearmor-piercingmagicattacks. 4.Crafters:Oddballswithuniqueabilitiesthatcandealarea-of-effectdamage,damagingortakingoutmultipleenemiesatonce. Duringanadventure,yourgoalistotraversethemap,survivingbattlesandupgradingyourgearuntilyoureachthefinalnode,whereyou’llfaceoffagainstabossinanepicconfrontation.Thenumberofnodesinanadventuredoesnotchange,andneitherdotheirpositionsonthemap.However,notwogameshavethesamecombinationsofbattlesorevents.Everytimeyoureplayanadventure,itwillbedifferent. Someoftheeventnodeshavescenarioslike: Diceevents(markedwithagreendie):Youmayusediceoranitemtosurviveascenario.Onlyaspecificclass(orclasses)canusetheirdiceoncertainevents.Ifyoudon’thavetheeligibleHeroclasstorollthedice,youronlyoptionleftistoskip,whichoftenresultsinapenalty.Aregulardiehas4goodsides(indicatedbyastar)and2badsides(indicatedbyanX).Ifyougetatleast1successfulroll,youwintheevent.Usinganitemlikeapickaxeoraropeguaranteesthesuccessoftheevent.Ifyoudon’tseeadieiconnearaHero,itmeansthere’snorollsneededtoproceed. Combatevents(markedwitharedskull):Youmustdefeatallenemiesonthebattlemaptoproceed.Losingbyhavingallofyourpartymembersdefeatedalsomeanslosingtheadventure,forcingyoutostartover. Randomevents(markedwithaquestionmark):Thesecouldbeanythingfromafreeitemtoariddlefromawizard. Betweennodes,theremightbesomeothereventsscatteredaround.Thesecouldbeencounteringanewcompanionforyoutorecruit,orbeingambushedbyahordeofmonsters.Youwon’tknowuntilyouseethem.Youwon'tgetambushedifthere'reonly3membersinyourparty. Heroeshaveuniqueskillsandtraitsthattheycanuseincombat.However,Heroesinthesameclassshareasimilarpassivetrait,whichactivatesiftheirturnisskipped.SkillsarethecoreofHeroes’attacks,thoughnotallofthemdealdamagetoenemies.Someprovideadvantageslikebuffsorextramobilityratherthanpureoffensivepower.Someskillsallowtheheroestomoveafterwards,whicharecalledfree-actionskills.Otherskills,whichcannotbeperformediftheheroeshavemoved,arecalledfull-actionskills. Incombat,Heroesandenemiestaketurnstomovearoundinthearenaandfighttheiropponents.Ifaunitreaches0HP,itisconsidereddefeated.Ifaherowasdefeatedduringcombatbutyoustillmanagedtowin,they’llreturnwithacripplingwound,leavingthemwithonelessmaximumhealth.IfaherolostsomeHPinacombat,theywillcarryonwiththeirremainingHP.TheirHPlossandinjuriescanbehealedinsomeways. Invigoratedgrantsahero+1movementspeed,andallowstheinvigoratedHeroestousecertainskillsevenaftertheyhavemoved. Exhaustedreducedmovementbyone,andtheexhaustedHeroescan’tmoveafterusingtheirskills. BlessedgrantstheheroanadditionalDietotheirDiceEvents.Theseworklikeanyotherdie,whichmeanshigherchanceofwinning. CursedgivesthecursedHeroesaDoomDieintheirDiceEvents.ADoomDiehas4doomsidesand2badsides.Adoomsidewillcanceloutasuccessfulroll.
