EastwoodGolfClub,locatedinNewtonMearns,onthesouthsideofGlasgow,closedinMay2019after126yearsinoperation.Asignificantdownturninmembershiphadmadethebusinessunsustainableand,afteratakeoverbidcollapsed,itwasforcedintoliquidation.However,bunkered.co.ukhasseenproposalstoresurrecttheclubaspartofanewmulti-purpose,leisureandentertainmentcomplexcalledEastwoodEstate. The£1.5million,175-acredevelopmentwillbecreatedonthesiteoftheoldEastwoodGolfClubandwillcompriseashortgolfcourse,clubhouseandgolfacademy. •LowryfinallygetshandsonAGW trophy•R&A toteamupwithModest! GolfTheproposedcomplexalsoincludesopportunitiesforaweddingandeventsvenue,anewplantnursery,anorchardplantationandevenamicro-distilleryorbrewery.
