OnAugust30,1960,JohnDeeredealersfromaroundtheworldconvergedonDallas,Texas,foranunprecedentedproductshowcase.DeereDayinDallas,astheeventwascalled,introducedtheworldtothe"NewGenerationofPower",thecompany'sfirstmodernfour-cylinderandsix-cylindertractors,duringadaypackedwithhigh-techpresentations,livedemonstrations,andaparkinglotfullofbrand-newgreenandyellowmachines.Thelineoftractorsintroducedthatdaywasfiveyearsinthemaking,andtheeventitselftookmonthstoplan.DeerechoseDallastohosttheeventpartlybecauseitwashometofacilitieslargeenoughtoaccommodatethe6,000guestsandtheequipmenttheywerealltheretosee.TheDallasMemorialAuditorium,theTexasStateFairgroundsColiseum,theCottonBowl,andtheCottonBowlparkinglotwereeachthesiteofpartoftheevent.Duringtheevent,anewJohnDeeretractorwithadiamond-coverednameplatewasdisplayedforalltoseeinsideNeiman-Marcus,apopularDallas-baseddepartmentstore.
