Iknowwhosheis.                當受詞 Thisiswherehelives.             當補語 Wherehelivesisimportanttome. 當主詞 ＊由直接問句改成間接問句應注意： 1be動詞放回主詞後：    Idon’tknowwhattimeitis.    Tellmewhosheis.    Heknowshowmanypeopletherearein myfamily.    Askhimwhothemanin greenpants is.  形容詞片語 請勿與所修飾名詞分開    Iknowwhotheboysitting overthere is. 形容詞片語 請勿與所修飾名詞分開 2a.無意義的助動詞（do,does,did）去掉，並注意動詞的適當變化。

   Wedon’tknowwheretheylive.     (Wheredotheylive?) DoyouknowwhatJohnwants?   （WhatdoesJohnwant?）    I’dliketoknowwhereMarywent. （WheredidMarygo?）    Tellmehowithappened.         （Howdidithappen?）  b.否定時（don’t,doesn’t,didn’t），則放回主詞後。

   Heknowswhatshedoesn’t like.    （Whatdoesn’tshelike?）    I’lltellyouwhoIdon’t love.       （Whodon’tIlove?） 3有意義的助動詞（can,will,shall,may,could,would,should, might,have,has…），放回主詞後。

   Don’taskmewhatIcan’tsay.      （Whatcan’tIsay?）    Do youknowwhenshewillcome?  （Whenwillshecome?）    Heknowswhyyoushouldleaveso early. （Whyshouldyouleavesoearly?） 4疑問詞當主詞 時，照抄。

   Iknowwhathappenedto him.    Iknowwhatishappening inthehouse.    Iknowwhodidit.    Iknowwholockedthe door.    Iknowwhichteamwonthe game.    Iknowwhatiswrong.    Iknowwhatisthematter withyou. ※用於be動詞或助動詞的疑問句（沒有疑問詞） *whether引導名詞子句 Iaskhim            whetherheiscoming. Iwasn’tsure        whetheryou’dlikeit. Iwonder            whetherweshouldinviteheror not. Ican’tmakeupmymind whethertotellherthetrue. Iamnotinterestedin whetheryoulikemeornot. Whetherhewillcomeisimportant.＝Itisimportantwhetherhewillcome. *通常if可代換whether（if當然不用ornot） ＊接在ask,see,try,wonder,know…之後的if引導名詞子句，當「是否」。

  Iaskedhimif（=whether）hewouldgowithme.   Iwonder  if（=whether）itwill raintomorrow. S  V     O（if引導名詞子句，時式以原時式即可）                  （我不知道明天是否會下雨。

） ＊但下列情況，whether不可代換if 1在不定詞之前 Thequestioniswhetherto goorstay. Shedoesn’tknowwhether togetmarriednowornot. 2在介系詞之後 Itdependson whetheryou’rereadyornot. Ihaven’tsettledthe questionofwhetherI’llgobackhome. 3在名詞之後 Icanansweryouthe questionwhetherheisready. 4whether當主詞時，且置於句首 Whetherweneeditisadifferentmatter. 5句中有ornot Itdoesn’tmatter whethershewillcomeornot. 6whether子句當補語時 Theproblemiswhether weneedit. Letmeknowwhetheryouarecoming.告訴我你來不來         v    o 名詞子句 Letmeknowifyouarecoming.      如果你要來告訴我              Adv.副詞子句 Idon’tknowwhetherhewillcomeornot.             whetherornothewillcome. Wediscussedwhetherweshouldclosethe store.               ==if You’llhavetopaywhetheryouwanttoornot. *if和whether也可以引導副詞子句，但要注意未來式。

＊    Wewillstayathomeif itrainstomorrow.（如果明天下雨，我們會留在家。

） 主要子句（未來式或現在式）＋if（現在式）條件子句 此句表現在或未來有可能的假設，if後引導的是條件子句，只能用現在式。

*whether引導副詞子句 Iamgoingtogo, whetheryoulikeitornot. Whetheryoudoitnowor later,it’sgottobedonesomething. Whetherhecomes ornot,theresultwillbethesame.
