Heruniqueapproachandabilitytohelpdifficultclientsquicklyledtorecognitionanddemandasaconsultant,author,andworld-renownedtrainer –aswellascountlessawardsthatincluded beingvoted“MostInfluentialTherapist” intwonationalsurveysofPsychiatrists,Psychologists,SocialWorkers,andMarriageandFamilyTherapists(PsychotherapyNetworker,2007). Duringherlifetime,VirginiawroteseveralwidelyacclaimedbooksonthesubjectoffamilytherapyandshehelpedestablishorganizationssuchastheMentalResearchInstitute,International HumanLearningResourcesNetwork(IHLRN),andTheAvantaNetwork(nowTheVirginiaSatirGlobalNetwork) forthepurposeoftrainingandprovidingresourcesfortherapists. Sheremaineddevotedtohelpingothersandworkedtirelesslyupuntilherdeathin1988 writingandtravelingtheglobeasatrainerandlecturer. TheSatirModelultimatelyexpandedbeyondtherealmoffamilytherapyandbecamerecognizedasapplicabletoallsituationswhereimprovinghumancommunicationandgrowthisdesired,provingtobe usefulinareasrangingfromtherapyandsocialworktoeducationandinformationtechnology.TheprinciplesembodiedinVirginiaSatir’suniquecombinationofintelligence,insight,andcompassionareuniversalintheirapplicabilitytothehumancondition,andthereislittledoubtthatshedeservesherstatusasoneofthemostsignificantfiguresinthehistoryofmoderntherapy.
