Sustainablemanagementofagriculturallandscanreducetheseimpacts, butfeweffortshavebeenmadeinthecontextofpaddyricefields, especiallyinsimplifiedlandscapescomposedoflargemonocultures separatedbyfragmentsofnaturallands,suchasinTaiwanorelsewhere inAsia.Inthisstudy,duringapestcontrolintervention,weexamined theeffectsofmanagementpracticesoninsectcommunitiesunder conventionalandorganicfarmingsystemsinthepaddyfieldsof northernTaiwanin2016.Ourresultsshowedthatorganicpracticesdid notincreasethespeciesrichnessorabundanceofthefourinsect groups(total,predators/parasitoids,pests,andotherinsects).In addition,thecompositionoftheinsectcommunitiesdidnotdiffer betweenorganicandconventionalfarmingsystems.Boththeabundance andrichnessofpredator/parasitoidinsectsweresimilarbetween conventionalandorganicfarmingsystems.Thepestabundanceinthe organicsystemscouldbesuppressedbyotherunmeasuredpredatorsand integratedmanagementpractices,whichshowedsimilarlevelstothe conventionalsystemswithpesticideapplications.Theresultsofthis studysuggestthatfarmingsystemsmaynotinfluenceinsect biodiversityinsimplifiedlandscapesduringpest-controlintervention.
