一般而言，外國人用“ache”來表達五種身體上的痛楚，包括：有“ear-ache”(耳痛)、“stomach-ache”(肚痛或胃痛)、“toothache”(牙痛)、“backache”(背脊痛)及“headache”(頭痛)。

而“sore”是形容詞(adj.)，用法是“sore”再加上發出病楚的身體部分(i.e. bodypart)，如“asorefinger”，“asoretoe”，又或者“I'vegotsoregum”(這正好表達我們「熱氣」時的牙肉腫痛！)。

“painful”也是形容詞(adj.)，用法是Body part(身體部分)+Verb(動詞)+painful，例如： (a)Myfeetarepainful.Iwalked 3milesyesterday. 此外，很多人以廣東話「我唔舒服。
