即使繁忙程度被迫超過可負荷範圍,人還是會因為繁忙而感到幸福。

許多人都相信悠閒才會讓人幸福,偏偏事實卻完全相反。

這個「高生產力延後作業」是史丹佛大學哲學系名譽教授約翰.培利教我的。

他發現只要當待辦事項清單裡出現一件讓他略感壓力的事項時,其他的事項會看起來格外誘人。

這個現象把其他事項(作業)想成是一種「休息」,是完成必做之事的「最佳動力」。

這做法之所以適合我,是因為它將「必做事項」轉變成「想做的事」不要用「是否完成今天的所有待辦事項」來評斷自己,改用「待辦清單的安排是否適合自己的個性」「有沒有以自己想做的事來安排待辦清單」等來幫自己評分。

尋求該如何達成目標的建議,而非是否該追求目標的意見比起試圖減輕、逃避壓力,改變對壓力的看法、接受壓力本身的存在才是處理壓力的「最佳方法」。

最重要的是在發生事件時,不應該思考「為什麼這種事會發生在我身上」,而是思考發生這件事是為了什麼。

不是思考「為什麼」而是「為了什麼」,這便是「成長心態」。
