UNCERTAINTY It’sbecomingmoredifficulttoanticipateeventsorpredicthowthey’llunfold;historicalforecastsandpastexperiencesarelosingtheirrelevanceandarerarelyapplicableasabasisforpredictingtheshapeofthingstocome.It’sbecomingnearlyimpossibletoplanforinvestment,development,andgrowthasitbecomesincreasinglyuncertainwheretherouteisheading. COMPLEXITY Ourmodernworldismorecomplexthanever.Whatarethereasons?Whataretheeffects?–Problemsandtheirrepercussionsaremoremulti-layered,hardertounderstand.Thedifferentlayersintermingle,makingitimpossibletogetanoverviewofhowthingsarerelated.Decisionsarereducedtoatangledmeshofreactionandcounter-reaction–andchoosingthesinglecorrectpathisalmostimpossible. Ittakesafreshapproachtomanagementandleadershiptoguaranteepositiveresultsunderchangedcircumstances.
