Theseindividualsyearntobeloved.Theywantintimateconnectionsandthereforetheyhavelowavoidance.However,theyalsoviewthemselvesnegativelyresultinginhighanxiety.Anxiousadultswanttobeloved,butdon’tbelievetheyarelovable. Dismissiveavoidantattachmentstyle Dismissiveavoidantsarehighonavoidancebecausetheyhaveanegativeviewofothers.Buttheyviewthemselvespositivelywithlowanxiety. Suchanindividualtendstokeepadistanceevenincloserelationships.Theyareunwillingtoprovidesupporttoclosefriendsorpartnersintimesofdistressanddismissthosewhoseeksupportfromthemasweak,emotionallyunstable,orimmature4. Fearfulavoidantattachmentstyle Thisisanotheravoidantstyle.Peoplewithfearful-avoidantattachmentstyleshavehighanxietyandhighavoidance.Theyviewboththemselvesandothersnegatively. HavingapartnerwithBPDcansometimesfeellikeridinganemotionalrollercoaster. Buthavingfearful-avoidantattachmentdoesnotautomaticallymeanonehasBPD.AlthoughsomestudiesfoundthatBPDwasassociatedwithfearfulavoidantattachmentandpreoccupiedattachment,a2005researchreviewedninestudiesonthistopicanddeterminedthatwasnotentirelythecase.
